The Buildings Design Team in Vancouver is looking for engineering talent to support our growing list of Mechanical, Electrical and Structural design projects. Our Buildings team has been expanding into the Transit, Industrial Facility, Waste Management, Institutional/Post Secondary Facility and Food/Beverage markets based on our complex building knowledge and expertise. Currently we are seeking a Mechanical EIT. This role needs a candidate that can receive specific guidelines and work within defined standards and specifications, exercise judgment in selecting and interpreting information with review by senior or intermediate level engineers, and work closely with Project Managers, Project Disciplines Leads, Architects and the Sr. Mechanical Engineer responsible to support successful project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare mechanical construction drawings in conjunction with an architectural, structural and electrical design team
  • Prepare designs for mechanical HVAC, plumbing, fuel storage and limited fire suppression systems
  • Prepare HVAC load calculations using HAP/Trace program
  • Document project progress/results through the preparation of memos, minutes and reports as a record of events
  • Assist in conducting site visit surveys of buildings for the purpose of collecting design information related to mechanical HVAC,plumbing, and fire suppression systems as they relate to building design and project scope
  • Prepare field information documentation of site visit surveys
  • Assist in review of shop drawings and equipment submittal for compliance with construction document requirements
  • Assist in providing field construction administration support (construction review and site visit reports, deficiency list generation, and project close-out documentation)
  • Adhere to corporate quality control and assurance processes for all mechanical design work in the local office
  • Adhere to the corporate Health, Safety and Environment policies in carrying out work
  • Ability to perform occasional field work with possible minimal travel requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering with EIT designation (or ability to obtain EIT designation)
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment with a strong customer service commitment 
  • Willingness to cross train in other fields to support other lines of busiens that may require mechanical design support
  • Familiar with relevant building codes in Canada (BC and Vancouver)
  • Familiar with AutCAD and Revit an asset
  • Familiar with BIM design delivery and asset
