Morrison Hershfield Limited is looking for a Senior Security Specialist in our Markham or Ottawa offices.  This role will focus on business development for new security projects, threat and risk assessments, security system design, and project management.  The position will involve the application of fundamental security principles for threat and risk assessment for governmental, institutional, and commercial clients.  The position requires the ability to investigate security threats, crime mapping, analyze risks to operations and buildings, identify design solutions for security risks, prepare written reports and cost estimates and advise clients on recommended security solutions.  The successful candidate will work in a team environment, working closely with clients and acting as a technical mentor internal to MH as well as to build MH's reputation in the security industry.  The position will also involve project management, liaising with clients and project teams, and sales and marketing to further grow the MH security consulting service line across Canada.

  • Undertake threat and risk assessments
  • Prepare technical reports
  • Investigate, advise, and solve unusual security challenges for clients
  • Conduct client information sessions to gather information and determine user requirements
  • Business development to identify and secure new clients
  • Identify project opportunities and prepare project proposals
  • Conduct site audits of security systems and processes; assess performance, and as-built conditions
  • Assist in the design of security solutions
  • Participate in design reviews, shop drawings reviews, construction site visits and verifications for various security solutions
  • Manage projects and be primary client contact
  • Coordinate project teams including other security technical resources, contractors and other technical disciplines for successful project delivery




  • Minimum of 10 years of experience conducting threat and risk assessments and/or security design
  • Ability to conduct business development and sales is required
  • Strong technical skills and strong knowledge of security systems and design solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a security design project and communicate with clients, authorities and contractors
  • Ability to work in a team environment and mentor other staff
  • Security clearance to a minimum Secret Level or the ability to obtain it from CIISD, RCMP and similar organizations would be an asset
  • Certification as a Physical Security Professional (PSP), Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) would be an asset
