Overview

Morrison Hershfield is seeking a Communication Specialist in our Markham/Atlanta office to engage in and support the organization's vision through strategic communications activities that are responsive to the business needs of internal stakeholders and external customers. This position will support the development, administration, and implementation of internal communication strategies that will improve employee engagement, satisfaction, morale and performance.  This candidate will be responsible to develop external communications that highlight significant aspects of the business, notable staff, company objectives and achievements.  As well as creating materials that position Morrison Hershfield as a visible expert within the engineering field.

Responsibilities

  • Draft internal and external communication including, but not limited to, ghostwritten articles, blogs, scripts, speeches, memos, presentations, videos, social posts and white papers
  • Proactively coordinate internal and external resources for updates and to ensure projects and messages are delivered on time.  
  • Manage corporate communication calendar
  • Forge internal relationships with key stakeholders to ensure alignment of messaging
  • Manage communications sections of the corporate intranet site, external website, blog and social media channels by providing timely, accurate content aligned with major initiatives
  • Monitor effectiveness of internal and external communication through HubSpot, surveys, event attendance, etc. and work with the team to continuously improve

 

 

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree, preferably in English, Journalism, Communication or Public Relations
  • Experience in Public Relations, Human Resources, Change Management or Employee Relations is desirable
  • Desktop publishing capabilities with Microsoft Office and Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop tools
  • Ability to learn SharePoint and HubSpot tools
  • Ability to quickly understand and distill complex topics into concise messaging (intellectual horsepower)
  • A customer service oriented, self-starter with the ability to set priorities while multitasking and self-manage project assignments from start to finish
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-pace, high-pressure environment
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills
  • Understanding and knowledge of industry, practices, standards, and concepts
