Overview

Morrison Hershfield has extensive experience in electrical and mechanical systems for various types of buildings and facilities, and for a wide spectrum of applications. We work independently on stand-alone electrical and mechanical projects or together with architects and engineers of other specialties on multi-disciplinary projects to provide integrated solutions that address the particular requirements of our clients.

 

Our committed team of engineers and designers, provides services to many client sectors, including , institutional, transit, industrial and educational. We specialize in the design of systems for mission-critical facilities in the government, telecommunications and financial sectors. We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineer to complement our M & E team in our Markham office. This candidate will play a lead role in assisting our clients in all phases of the design process, from functional planning and conceptual layout through to detailed design and construction support.

Responsibilities

 

  • Conducts engineering planning options comparisons by undertaking multi-factor assessments to select preferred cost-effective alternatives under senior direction
  • Prepares electrical construction drawings and specifications in conjunction with our in-house mechanical, architectural, and civil/structural design teams
  • Prepares designs for electrical, utility-provided power distribution, standby power distribution (UPS & generators), lighting, lightning protection, operational and monitoring control systems, mission critical facility grounding, and fire alarm conceptual systems under senior direction
  • Documents study progress/results through the preparation of memos, minutes and reports as a record of events

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
  • Eligible for registration in Canada as a P.Eng.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience with electrical systems, preferably in the consulting engineering industry
  • Working knowledge of Revit
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD with ability to effectively communicate design intent to CAD staff
