We are looking for a Junior Sustainability Specialist to join our Sustainability team within the Building Specialty Services group. In this role, you will be responsible to provide technical assistance for project managers and others to develop and deliver key LEED and Sustainable projects from the Calgary office.  You will be involved in sustainable or "green" building initiatives for existing and new building projects.

Responsibilities

 

  • Project delivery tasks associated with LEED and green building projects, including:
    • Working with the Sustainability Specialist and project team to develop a project-appropriate sustainability strategy
    • Evaluating and tracking sustainability measures (e.g. LEED credits) implemented on projects
    • Communicating sustainability requirements and obligations to other team members
    • Helping to document submittal for submission to the “green” building certification body (e.g. CaGBC, BOMA, etc.)
  • Providing project assistance to project managers in the Building Specialty Services group. This may include: facility assessment, building performance evaluations and testing, construction site reviews

 

Qualifications

 

  • LEED Accredited Professional is strong asset
  • Expectations would that LEED Accredited Professional designation will achieved within the first few months of employment
  • Bachelor's in Engineering or Architecture, or Building / Construction related diploma, or related studies
  • Prior experience in work relating to green buildings and building sciences considered as an asset
  • Understanding of sustainability as it applies to the built environment
  • Some training or knowledge in a field complimentary to green buildings is an asset (ex.  Energy Modeling, building science / durability, , daylighting, etc)
  • Excellent command of verbal and written English language.     
  • Excellent organizational abilities
  • Detail oriented and capability for strategic thinking
  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently to solve problems
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Personal commitment to environmental / sustainability issues is an asset
