Overview

That's why we've worked hard to ensure that everyone is a vital part of the Morrison Hershfield team.  This position will work under close supervision and direction of the Senior Electrical Engineer, and where the primary engineering focus will be for telecommunication projects.  The successful candidate is expected to learn and perform project assignments within defined standards developing electrical designs for telecommunication and site development, learn how to exercise judgment in selecting and interpreting information with review by senior level engineers and architects, and work closely with project managers, project architects and senior electrical engineers. There will be fieldwork and travel requirements .

Responsibilities

  • Prepare electrical construction drawings and specifications, within the Telecom Site Development team under direction and supervision of the architectural, structural and electrical members of the team
  • Prepare designs for electrical utility provided power distribution, standby power distribution (UPS generators), lighting, lightning protection, utility provided operational and monitoring control systems for missions critical facilities, grounding, and fire alarm conceptual systems
  • Learn how to document progress/results through the preparation of memos, minutes and reports as a record of events
  • Assist in conducting site visit surveys of buildings for the purposes of collecting design information related to electrical service, fire alarm, grounding and lightning protection as they relate to telecommunications facilities design
  • Learn how to prepare field information documentation of site visit surveys
  • Assist in review of shop drawings and equipment submittal for compliance with data center or telecommunication facilities construction document requirements
  • Adhere to corporate quality control and assurance processes for all electrical design work
  • Assist in the preparation of electrical engineering analyses for projects including short circuit, device coordination, and arc flash hazard studies, voltage drop studies, photometric lighting calculations, demand load calculations, and generator and UPS sizing calculations. Training will be provided
  • Proven familiarity with NFPA 70 National Electrical Code or demonstrate ability to become familiar within a short time
  • Expected to learn and become well-versed in the supporting Codes essential to telecommunication projects
  • AutoCAD proficiency would be an asset

 

 

Qualifications

  • ​Bachelor's or associates degree in Electrical Engineering with Power and Facilities Option
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Electrical Engineering, Facility/Infrastructure Power projects
  • EIT or PE or proven desire and ability to achieve same within NCEES required time
