Overview

Morrison Hershfield, an employee owned company, provides a wide range of Civil Engineering services, including assessments, planning, design, and construction administration for bridges and other transportation related infrastructure.

 

The growing Winnipeg Transportation Structures Group is part of our National Transportation Structures Group, which has over 90 specialists located in Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg, Toronto, and Ottawa. We are looking for a talented and motivated Bridge E.I.T. to deliver projects as part of our Transportation Structures Department in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The successful candidate will be responsible for the technical quality and accuracy of work performed while working under the close supervision of more senior engineers. Work will be regularly reviewed for accuracy, adequacy, and conformance with guidelines and procedures. The position offers potential for technical and professional growth.

Responsibilities

  • Complete analyses and calculations and prepare designs and engineering drawings in accordance with established codes, standards, drawings, and other specifications using relevant software applications (structural analysis software, MathCAD, AutoCAD, etc.)
  • Interpret and analyze / assist in interpreting and analyzing results of field inspection data, structural tests, structural analyses, and historical document reviews to complete designs and make recommendations on technical solutions
  • Perform field inspections and evaluations of new and existing structures
  • Perform construction field reviews, including conducting tests, gathering and analyzing information, reviewing for compliance with code and contract specifications, calculating construction quantities, and completing construction reports
  • Prepare / assist in preparation of engineering documents, schedules, or reports, as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • Civil Engineering graduate eligible for registration as an E.I.T. or P.Eng. with APEGM
  • Knowledge of CHBDC S6 and AASHTO bridge design codes
  • Interest in working both in the office and field environments
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle
  • Strong computer skills including experience with CSiBridge / SAP2000 / Midas / SFrame / AutoCAD / MathCAD / Microsoft suite and similar software is a definite asset
