We are currently seeking a Structural Revit/CAD Drafter for a long term contract to complement our Structural group in the St. John’s office.

Responsibilities

  • Independently produce and manage 3D Revit Structure models and 2D AutoCAD structural drawings from notes, sketches, architectural drawings and engineering schematics, with a high degree of technical accuracy
    • Lay out framing or structural components with minimal direction from project engineers
    • Organize 2D drawings to be extracted from Revit model
    • Create and maintain custom blocks (families), workspaces and templates using REVIT software
    • Effectively communicate with the team regarding any issues about drawings
    • Communicate  with and provide direct support to multi-discipline teams to diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve Revit technical issues
    • Review project requirements and goals as they relate to BIM, and advise project engineers and managers of best approaches and techniques to achieve those goals
    • Participate in implementation of new technologies and new versions of modeling/drafting software
    • Generate shop/fabrication drawings from Revit models, on occasion
  • Participate in coordination of multidisciplinary drawings for new construction and renovation projects 
  • Evaluate architectural and other discipline/consultant progress models/drawings and assist engineers/designers in identifying changes made or necessary
  • Work with managers to develop & promote practices to improve production, efficiency and effectiveness at project and department level
  • Maintain and contribute to establishing high-quality drafting standards for structural projects
  • Review of shop drawings for compliance with drawings and specifications, on occasion
  • Conduct site visits for field data collection or for review of construction, on occasion

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a 2-3 year technical certificate or diploma program with an emphasis on civil/structural discipline
  • Proficiency with Revit is required
  • Skilled at interpreting and creating structural drawings of buildings and structures with Revit and AutoCAD
  • Demonstrated knowledge of structural systems and drawings, construction details standards, and terminology
  • Experience working on projects with structural focus with a general knowledge of construction drawings of all disciplines
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Superior organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently but also to be part of and contribute to a positive team environment
  • Strong attention to detail, customer-focused, motivated, multi-tasker
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced deadline-oriented environment, meeting deadlines proficiently
  • Valid driver's license and use of vehicle an asset
