Morrison Hershfield's Building Science Group provides planning, design and construction administration services for a vast array of building types and uses. The Building Science Consultant will complement our Building Sciences team in the Markham Office and play a lead role in the delivery of building condition assessment/evaluations, performance audits and reserve fund studies, restoration and new construction projects.  Due to expanding business opportunities in the Greater Toronto Area and elsewhere within the company, this position offers potential for growth in the areas of technical/professional development and project management.

  • Assist with building envelope design review and field work on new and existing buildings to ensure adherence to contract documents and good engineering practices
  • Undertake field performance testing of selected elements of building envelope assemblies to confirm compliance with specified performance standards
  • Assist with field investigation work and the diagnosis of building envelope problem and report on such
  • Assist the engineering staff in the preparation of design packages (CAD drawings)
  • Coordinate own work such that deliverables are achieved on time and within budget
  • Interface with Architect, general contractor and sub-trades
  • Apply engineering judgment to resolve building envelope design and construction related problems


  • Bachelor's in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Building Science or related field
  • Minimum 2 years' experience within the building envelope field and/or construction
  • Computer skills: CADD, MS.Word, Excel
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated and multi-tasking ability
  • Willingness to travel
  • Valid Ontario driver's license and access to a vehicle
