An employee owned company, Morrison Hershfield’s corporate growth strategy includes an increased presence in Western Canada including, Alberta Transportation, BC Transportation and municipalities in Alberta and BC. This initiative requires a manager to grow and lead a Transportation Department in our Edmonton office to represent Morison Hershfield locally. The candidate will be assisted in this initiative by the Transportation Business Development Group and through collaborate with our National Transportation Departments in Markham, Ottawa, Vancouver, and Winnipeg.  There will be excellent opportunities for working across jurisdictions; contributing to, and leading, interesting projects of all types and sizes; and career advancement.

As Practice Lead (Senior Project Manager, Transportation), you will utilize your knowledge of transportation design and construction industry to build a strong transportation group and provide leadership and project management on design projects including:

  • Hiring and developing a strong transportation team in Edmonton
  • Advancing the Roads and Highways Group’s business development initiatives related to Transportation Infrastructure with current and potential clients in Western Canada including Alberta Transportation, City of Edmonton, etc
  • Leading the preparation of bid responses to RFPs, RFQs and EOIs including detailed work plans, schedules and budgets
  • Managing multi-disciplinary teams in completion of transportation projects
  • Managing projects including project team direction, co-ordination, monitoring schedules and budgets, and invoice preparation
  • Preparing correspondence, reports and contract documentation
  • Work with the Transportation Department Manager in Edmonton to continue to develop Morrison Hershfield relationship with key clients


  • Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer in Alberta
  • Management experience
  • Minimum 15 years of post-registration experience leading roads and highways design and construction administration projects
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills combined with excellent oral, written and presentation skills
  • Commitment to quality service excellence
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentorship skills
  • Strong business development acumen
