Morrison Hershfield's Building Science Group provides assessment, design, rehabilitation and construction services for a vast array of building types and uses. We are currently seeking a CAD Designer to complement our Building Sciences team in the Vancouver Office.

Working as a technologist/technician in the Vancouver office, this position would include the following tasks:

  • Assist in the preparation of design drawings, details and contract documents using AutoCad
  • Draft and design detail packages related to renewal and new construction
  • Conduct field review to identify and confirm as-built construction
  • Perform other duties associated with working in a professional engineering office
  • Use other electronic pdf document review programs like Bluebeam to markup and edit drawings
  • Perform quantity takeoff and areas calculations of plans and elevation drawings  


  • A graduate of Building Technology or Architectural CAD program
  • Skilled CAD operator with 1-3 years’ experience or graduation from a technical program
  • Knowledge in areas related to various construction structures (Wood, concrete, steel etc.) and building science assemblies including materials, details, plans, sections and elevations
  • Working knowledge of engineering and office related application software including AutoCad, MS Word, Excel and Bluebeam
  • Exceptional attention to detail, specifically in accuracy of completeness and accuracy of drawings, calculations and data
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Self-motivating and multi-tasking ability
  • An interest in construction, performance of buildings and building science
