Morrison Hershfield's Mechanical team within our Mission Critical Facilities group undertakes work for a variety of clients in the private and public sectors. Applications HVAC, plumbing and fire suppression design for mission-critical facilities.  We are currently seeking an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to our Mission Critical Facilities group in our Markham office.

  • Conducts engineering/architecture/planning options comparisons by undertaking multi-factor assessments to select preferred cost-effective alternatives
  • Prepares contract drawings and specifications in conjunction with project team for delivery to client
  • Documents study progress/results through the preparation of memos, minutes and reports as a record of events
  • Provides direction to project team members and support staff through verbal and written instructions and assign work to appropriate individuals
  • Liaises with clients to exchange information re: project progress
  • Provides technical judgment
  • Conducts business development activities to secure new projects by client liaison and proposal preparation
  • Prepares site visit reports by interpreting findings to give clear recommendations and direction to clients
  • Reviews shop drawings and design details by analyzing for continuity and viability
  • Certifies professional work



  • Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering
  • P.Eng. designation is an asset
  • 4 + years experience in mechanical systems, specifically related to industrial, institutional, and commercial buildings, preferably in the consulting engineering industry
  • Strong knowledge of building services, controls, HVAC, plumbing and drainage and fire protection
  • Experience in project management
  • Experience in energy conservation work, energy modelling and IAQ
  • Experience with quality control and production scheduling is preferred
  • Ability to liaise with clients and contractors
  • Ability to manage a team of technical staff is an asset
