Overview

Morrison Hershfield's Vancouver office is currently seeking an experienced Building Science Consultant to complement our team of professionals. Morrison Hershfield has been active in the field of building science for over 30 years and is recognized as a leader in the industry across North America. Morrison Hershfield's Building Speciality Services division has a staff complement of over 200 practitioners involved in various aspects related to building envelope and building science, energy and performance modeling including engineers, architects, EITs, and technologists, with a broad range of experience and capabilities. Over the years, we have worked for owners, developers, design professionals, contractors and manufacturers in all aspects of Building Engineering including analysis, design,  construction administration, assessment, rehabilitation, renewals and maintenance on a broad range of both new construction and existing buildings. Responsibilities

  • Prepares straightforward plans, designs, calculations, analyses in accordance with established codes, standards, drawings and other specifications
  • Building envelope design and condition assessments for clients with both high-rise and low-rise buildings
  • Testing procedures and long term monitoring and development of remedial measures to correct building performance problems including a strong emphasis on the interaction of the building and mechanical systems
  • Assists to interpret results using relevant software applications
  • Analysis and interpretation of heat, air and moisture flow through building envelope systems
  • Prepares/assists to prepare engineering documents, schedules or reports, as assigned
  • Conducting preliminary studies required to formulate, determine and evaluate design criteria for engineering work
  • Liaising with clients, contractors and authorities
  • Perform other duties associated with working in a professional engineering environment
  • Duties will be carried out in an office and field environment

Qualifications

  • Civil or Mechanical Engineering Degree from an accredited university
  • Excellent attention to detail, specifically with accuracy in calculations and completeness of data
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced, deadline oriented environment
  • Self-motivated and strong commitment to team work
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
