We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer to complement our skilled team in the Edmonton Office.  Due to expanding business opportunities in Alberta and elsewhere within the company, this position offers significant potential for growth in the areas of technical / professional development and project management.

  • Act as mechanical lead and designer for small and medium sized projects, with intent to develop skills towards a future discipline lead role for larger projects
  • Develop relationships with clients and contribute to the Business Development of the Alberta team as well as write and review proposals
  • Coordinate work with other disciplines including architectural, structural and electrical
  • Select appropriate methods and techniques to obtain design solutions
  • Perform detailed design calculations
  • Direct CAD team for drawing preparation and review deliverables prior to submission to client
  • May supervise junior team members with regards to project work
  • Certify professional work
  • Attend site visits related to pre-design information gathering, post-construction review, and mechanical condition assessments
  • Prepare written reports based on the mechanical analysis of existing buildings and other structures
  • Work within assigned project budgets and schedules
  • Report on the progress of projects to clients and management through memos, meeting minutes and written reports



  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited university.
  • 15+ years' experience in design using Canadian building codes and design standards.  The majority of the experience must be in the consulting industry with buildings related projects
  • P. Eng, status with APEGA or able to become registered
  • Strong knowledge of the application of standard mechanical engineering methods and techniques
  • Experience in diverse mechanical building services projects, including boilers, chillers, rooftop, HVAC and head end systems
  • Plumbing knowledge & Fire Suppression experience an asset
  • Experience in business development and marketing and preparing proposals
  • Experience in project management would be an asset
  • Proven ability to develop and train engineers and techs as required
  • Ability to provide leadership to project teams and liaise with clients, contractors and authorities
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Revit is a benefit
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • The successful candidate must be able to work in a team environment and excel in multi-disciplined projects
