Morrison Hershfield's Building Science Group provides planning, design and construction administration services for a vast array of building types and uses. We are currently seeking an experienced Building Science Engineer / Architect - Rehab Lead to complement our Building Sciences team in the Seattle Office.  The Building Science Engineer / Architect - Rehab Lead will play a lead role in the rehabilitations/repairs/renewal (rehab) practice, performing marketing and business development, delivering building condition assessment/evaluations, managing projects, and designing rehab projects etc. Due to expanding business opportunities in Seattle and elsewhere within the company, this position offers significant potential for growth in the areas of technical / professional development and project management.

  • Direct/coordinate engineering and design activities
  • Assign/review work
  • Define scope of building consultation services to be provided and establishes the basic design criteria for the assignment
  • Approve technical documentation
  • Recommend practical application of theories and data derived from engineering research
  • Provide expert advice on design processes or construction methods
  • Obtain revenue-generating projects
  • Prepare proposals
  • Investigate, advise, and solve unusual design problems
  • Certify professional work
  • Conceive of programs/problems to be investigated
  • Determines basic operating policies, devising ways of reaching program objectives, meeting any unusual conditions affecting work progress
  • Conduct business development
  • Supervise personnel


  • Recognized in the industry in a field of specialty or works in a generalist capacity with broad technical knowledge of the Building Science discipline
  • Bachelor's degree in Building Science, Mechanical or Structural Engineering, Architecture, or appropriate related field of study
  • Eligible for Professional Architect or Engineer status in the United States, or other appropriate related certifications
  • 6 to 10 years' experience in the building industry
  • Business development/sales experience
