In this position you will be given the opportunity to assist in a range of duties within the office including design, project management administration and liaison with clients and stakeholders; outside of the office, you will gain invaluable field experience conducting condition assessments, site investigations and field surveys. The ideal candidate for this entry-level position will bring with them a strong sense of enthusiasm; a willingness to participate in a hands-on manner, and, a desire to learn.



Responsibilities:

You will assist engineering staff in the delivery of transportation engineering projects. In doing so, you will take your own training to the next level gaining progressively responsible experience in a project delivery environment including:

  • Preparation of designs, design drawings, contract documents and engineering specifications.
  • Perform engineering calculations (e.g. quantities, initiating or checking design, planning elements).
  • Assisting in the analysis of engineering problems and design deficiencies and recommending appropriate courses of action.
  • Preparing designs using computer design tools (e.g. CAD, transportation software).
  • Performing a wide-range of additional duties intended to support your growth and development within a professional engineering environment.


Qualifications:
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Diploma; preference will be given to candidates with one or two years of experience.
  • Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer or as a Certified Engineering Technologist in the Province of Ontario.
  • Summer, co-op or full time work experience in the transportation sector a definite asset.
  • A strong interest in learning and developing in a technical role on planning, design and construction projects.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills combined with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to quality service excellence.
  • A growing understanding of transportation planning, design, road infrastructure and municipal services.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced, deadline oriented environment.
  • Self motivated and strong commitment to team work.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, and Road Design Software a definite asset.
