Overview:
Morrison Hershfield's Transportation Division provides planning, design and construction administration services for roadway, transit / rail, bridge and related projects. We are currently seeking an experienced Project Manager to complement our transportation team in the Ottawa Office and to play a lead role in the delivery of environmental assessment and functional / preliminary design assignments for primarily public sector clients. Due to expanding business opportunities in Ontario and elsewhere within the company, this position offers significant potential for growth in the areas of technical / professional development and project management.

Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Managing multi-disciplinary project teams.
  • Providing direction to planning and engineering staff in the preparation of Environmental Assessments, feasibility studies, functional & preliminary designs and in conducting comprehensive stakeholder consultations.
  • Preparing and managing project budgets, work plans and schedules.
  • Communicating with clients, agencies, stakeholders, and the public.
  • Overseeing complex evaluations of planning and design alternatives.
  • Preparing correspondence, reports and proposals.
  • Staff development and mentoring.
  • Identifying and securing consulting opportunities.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (P.Eng.) or Professional Planning Designation (RPP)
    15 to 20 years of experience in the engineering industry specifically related to planning and design of transportation infrastructure with a broad base of project experience.
  • Skills and experience at a Senior Level commensurate with 15 to 20 years of directly related environmental assessment, planning and design experience, working with projects under various jurisdictions (municipal, provincial and federal).
  • Demonstrated ability as a project manager of multi-disciplinary project teams.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of municipal, provincial and federal environmental assessment legislation and related agency approvals processes.
  • Experience with business development and proposal preparation.
  • Excellent communication, writing and client relations skills are essential.
  • Language requirements: English - fluency in French would be an asset.
